What will you be doing as a Test Engineer?

As a Test Engineer, you will play a key role in ensuring the delivery of high-quality, reliable outcomes across a growing portfolio of automation and AI-driven projects. You’ll focus primarily on manual testing of low/no-code solutions and third-party integrations built using platforms such as Zapier, Make, and AI scripting tools (including GPTs).

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys problem-solving, picks up new tools quickly, and wants to help shape the testing standards of an emerging AI/Automation capability. While the role is mainly manual testing, you may also contribute lightweight automation or scripting to support efficiency and repeatability

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, prepare, and execute manual test cases across low/no-code automation projects (e.g., Zapier, Make).
  • Validate data and process flows between integrated tools such as Snowflake, Twilio, Jotform, Outlook, etc., using standard testing tools like Postman.
  • Test and validate AI-based workflows (e.g., GPTs, automation scripts), ensuring accuracy, reliability, and expected behaviour.
  • Log, track, and retest defects using tools such as Jira or Zephyr.
  • Collaborate with automation builders, developers, and business stakeholders to understand test requirements and expected outcomes.
  • Analyse and report on test progress, outcomes, issues, and risks.
  • Participate in peer reviews of automation workflows and test documentation.
  • Clearly document test evidence and raise risks or anomalies promptly.
  • Contribute to defining simple, repeatable test processes and standards for the AI/Automations team.
  • Support the development of basic automated or repeatable checks using low/no-code testing tools where beneficial.

What are we looking for?

  • 2–3 years’ manual testing experience.
  • Strong understanding of testing methodologies, tools, and best practices.
  • Experience with APIs and data workflows.
  • High attention to detail, strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and within a small cross-functional team.
  • Clear communication and solid documentation skills.
  • Self-motivated and eager to learn new tools and techniques.
  • Awareness of Agile ways of working.

Desirable

  • Basic SQL, API, or scripting knowledge (Python/JavaScript).
  • Exposure to AI/LLM tools (e.g., GPTs).
  • Familiarity with Zapier, Make, or similar automation platforms.
  • Experience with Jira, Zephyr, or other test management tools.

Location:

This is a remote working role (UK) which will require visits to our Newcastle Head office approximately once per quarter.
